This Canadian spot got a Golden Globes shout out and Seth Rogen went full Canada

Seth Rogen has shown off his Canadian roots proudly yet again, now at the 2025 Golden Globes alongside fellow Canuck Catherine O’Hara.

The pair was tasked with presenting the award for Best Female Actor – Limited Series, Anthology Series or Television Motion Picture and took the opportunity to share a little Canadian knowledge.

Viewers at home were privy to some fun facts about the celebrities as they walked up to the microphone, and Rogen’s fact put his hometown under the spotlight.

His was that « The Vancouver Aquarium named an octopus (cephalopod) after him- ‘Ceph Rogen' ». Vancouverites are probably familiar with Ceph Rogen, but now the rest of the world is too!

The octopus was originally named back in 2018 thanks to an online vote — which Rogen was thrilled about.

Seth Rogen finally got to meet Ceph Rogen the next year, while filming the Netflix series Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner hosted by David Chang.

The Vancouver Aquarium was just the start of the Canadian references, though the rest weren’t exactly facts. O’Hara and Rogen kept the Canadian theme going, joking about fake movies and award shows that poked fun at their home country.

« Back home, we each have extensive history in award-winning performances. I guess they got stopped at the border, » O’Hara said.

Although The Beaver Awards may not be real, we love to see The Great White North being talked about.
