There’s a new best passports in the world ranking for 2025.
The Canadian passport dropped spots and is even on the « losers list » this year.
According to the 2025 Henley Passport Index, Canada still has one of the best passports but has lost prominence over the last decade.
The Henley Passport Index ranks the world’s passports based on the number of destinations they can access without a prior visa
Most of the top 10 for the world’s most powerful passports ranking this year is dominated by European countries.
But Canada is one of the exceptions.
Canada’s passport gets you visa-free access to 188 destinations while Singapore’s passport — the number one ranked in the world — provides visa-free access to 195 destinations.
These are the top 10 best passports in the world for 2025:
- Singapore
- Japan
- Finland, France, Germany, Italy, South Korea and Spain
- Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway and Sweden
- Belgium, New Zealand, Portugal, Switzerland and the U.K.
- Australia and Greece
- Canada, Malta and Poland
- Czechia and Hungary
- Estonia and the U.S.
- Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia and the UAE
Even though Canada is tied for the 7th most powerful passport in the world, the country’s passport is still on the « losers list » this year.
According to the 2025 Henley Passport Index, Canada is 5th on the losers list because the passport dropped from 4th to 7th place in the last decade.
But the Canadian passport is still better than the American passport!
The U.S. is ranked 9th in 2025 with visa-free access to 186 destinations and is the second-biggest faller of the last decade, dropping from 2nd to 9th.
