This beautiful lakeside city near Toronto was named among Canada's most liveable

The Globe and Mail recently released its 2024 list of « Canada’s Most Livable Cities« , crafted to « help readers identify communities where they could thrive. »

To compile the ranking, The Globe and Mail evaluated 448 communities nationwide, using 50 factors across 10 categories, including transportation, amenities, and housing.

Among the 100 cities featured on the list, this Ontario city came in at number 24.

Burlington is a picturesque city nestled between the shores of Lake Ontario and the Niagara Escarpment. The destination boasts golf courses, conservation areas and a vibrant core, making it a desirable place to call home.

There are endless attractions to enjoy, such as the Royal Botanical Gardens, the largest botanical garden in Canada, where you’ll find 130 acres of cultivated garden and 27 kilometres of scenic trails.

Spencer Smith Park is another gorgeous outdoor destination to enjoy in Burlington. The lakeside area « offers a lovely promenade with breathtaking views of the lake, beach, and Skyway Bridge, » according to the City of Burlington website.

During the spring, the park bursts into bloom with gorgeous cherry blossoms.

You can discover a little bit of European charm in the city by heading to Village Square. The charming destination features cobblestone streets, cozy shops and even a red telephone booth that will whisk you away to London.

Other highlights of Burlington include the Brant Street Pier, Mount Nemo Conservation Area and Beachway Park.

The city is home to a plethora of delicious restaurants, cafes, ice cream shops and bars that will satisfy all your cravings. It also boasts The Pearle Hotel & Spa — a luxurious destination located on the shores of Lake Ontario.

Burlington is located less than an hour from Toronto and is accessible by VIA Rail and GO Transit.
