Much of Canada has been dealing with some seriously cold weather but things are about to switch up — and it’s bad news for B.C. The B.C. weather forecast is calling for some of the coldest temperatures of the winter to come soon, with a « deep freeze » ahead.
The Weather Network (TWN) said that the weather pattern is going to change as we move into February and with it, B.C. and Alberta will get chilled.
First, some mild Pacific air is going to come through and « trek across the country, » but by the end of the week Arctic air from Alaska is set to « spill into the Yukon and Northwest Territories, and surge southwards. That will lead to some of the winter’s coldest temperatures for British Columbia and Alberta, » TWN said.
So far this winter Vancouver’s coldest high has been 4.3°C, on December 4, so overall it’s been pretty mild. Kamloops’ coolest high for the season so far was -4.4°C on January 20. These dates probably won’t hold their titles for long though, as TWN said to « expect those marks to be challenged as some of the coldest temperatures of the season arrive by the weekend. »
Make sure to bundle up and prepare for an abrupt switch-up of weather, because winter isn’t over yet! Luckily the spring forecast is out, and warmth is coming.
