Montreal duo DVTR will release their first live album, Live Aux Foufs, on April 18 via Lisbon Lux Records. The recording captures their sold-out show at Foufounes Électriques on December 5, 2024—a frenetic, sweat-soaked set that doubled as both a homecoming and an unofficial year-end celebration for the group.
The album features live renditions of tracks from their 2023 debut EP BONJOUR (BIS), including “Les Olympiques,” “Vasectomia,” and the eponymous “DVTR,” alongside newer material. Among the previously unreleased cuts is “K.C.D.” (short for Kid, Couple, Entertainment), which the band has been opening their sets with since 2023. A live favourite among longtime fans, the song’s unrelenting energy sets the tone for the record—caustic, fast, and never overstaying its welcome.
Comprised of vocalist Demi Lune and multi-instrumentalist Jean Divorce, DVTR has quickly carved out a niche in Quebec’s francophone punk underground. Their sound—part egg punk, part garage rock—leans into repetition, noisy hooks, and an irreverent streak that feels both urgent and performative. While comparisons to acts like The B-52s or Jay Reatard are common, their identity remains unmistakably their own, bolstered by a confrontational stage presence and a rotating cast of masked live collaborators.
The band’s live show has been the cornerstone of their rise, with Live Aux Foufs acting less as a retrospective than a timestamp. Their performances often blur the line between satire and sincerity—detonating songs about vasectomies, police abolition, and drug-fuelled nights with equal parts rage and absurdity. It’s all delivered in French, though language seems secondary to tone.
In addition to digital and CD formats, the album will be released on VHS—a nod, perhaps, to DVTR’s low-fi aesthetic and refusal to play the game the conventional way.
DVTR are currently on tour, with dates across Quebec and France throughout spring and summer, including stops at Le Zaricot in Saint-Hyacinthe and Paris’ Supersonic.
