A 40-minutes ferry ride from Vancouver across the sparkling ocean will bring you to this summer destination — a peaceful retreat into seaside towns and tranquil nature.
When asked on the Narcity Facebook Page what the best BC Ferries trips to take this summer are, the Sunshine Coast got some well-deserved love. The area is known for its sunny weather, natural beauty, and laid-back vibes that make it the ideal vacation spot.
From Horseshoe Bay you can get on the ferry and enjoy the scenic ride to the South Coast of the region, docking at the Langdale terminal. From there it’s easy to explore the coast, just driving along the highway.
You’ll pass by Gibsons first — a small waterfront town bustling with cute shops and restaurants.
Beaches are scattered across the shore here and you can spend days enjoying the summer weather from them. Sechelt is another go-to community here with ocean vistas, a charming town and lots of nature to explore.
Throughout the South Coast there’s kayaking tours, parks, and even floatplane adventures with Sunshine Coast Air.
After exploring around the Sechelt you can make the hour long drive to Egmont to see the famous rapids at Skookumchuck Narrows Provincial Park.
If you have more time you can head further into the breathtaking nature of the Sunshine Coast, exploring the Northern Coast. It’s a longer journey from Vancouver but worth it to see the incredible scenery and visit the different communities.
If you’re looking for a summer getaway, it’s clear why people love this place.
