CSIS is hiring protection officers and you don't need a degree to make over $80,000

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) is hiring people to work as protection officers.

No university degree is required, but you can still make more than $80,00 a year.

The federal intelligence and security agency has an open job posting for Regional Protective Services Officers.

With the officer positions, the pay ranges from $68,552 to $83,389 per year.

These CSIS jobs are available at the federal agency’s locations in Burnaby, Ottawa and Montreal.

Duties of Regional Protective Services Officers include:

  • monitoring and administering activities in support of access controls
  • monitoring and responding to emergency and safety situations to ensure the protection of life, facility and property by maintaining order, control and safety.
  • ensuring the protection of CSIS property and the personal property of employees and visitors by conducting safety and security patrols
  • responding, assisting and monitoring all activities related to an evacuation of the complex
  • training and mentoring new officers
  • preparing shift, incident and monthly statistical reports related to all safety and security activities
  • conducting random security searches and reporting anomalies
  • responding to National Service Call Center queries and maintaining the local call log

To get the job, you must be a Canadian citizen.

You also need to meet one of these education and experience requirements:

  • high school diploma and four years of relevant experience
  • college diploma (one-year program) or Quebec Attestation of College Studies and three years of relevant experience
  • college diploma (two-year program) and two years of relevant experience
  • college diploma (three-year program) and one year of relevant experience

If you have a college diploma or an Attestation of College Studies, it must be from an accredited institution and in a field of study that’s relevant to the position.

According to CSIS, the relevant experience is:

  • in a protective service and security-related function (like the protection of assets, operations and employees from various security threats)
  • in managing various components of a security guard post, including access management and camera controls

You must be able to wear a uniform and work shifts, overtime and weekends.

Also, you need to be able to receive an Enhanced Top Secret security clearance.

The process includes a security interview, a polygraph, and a background investigation with credit and financial verifications.

The closing date is July 27, 2025.
