Alberta’s weather forecast going into this weekend is looking messy, with snow, high winds, and even the risk of freezing rain. While some areas can expect milder conditions, others will be dealing with some messy weather.
According to The Weather Network, a low-pressure system is moving from northern Alberta to southern Manitoba by late Friday and into Saturday morning. Parts of northern Alberta, including Fort McMurray, are expected to see snow starting early Friday. Areas « from Slave Lake, through Athabasca and down to Lloydminster » might also face a slight risk of freezing rain into Friday afternoon.
Over in eastern Alberta, scattered flurries are possible overnight on Friday. Breezy conditions are also in the forecast along the Alberta-Saskatchewan border from Friday night into Saturday afternoon.
Environment Canada has issued multiple wind warnings for various regions across the province, cautioning about strong gusts that could reach up to 100 km/h on Friday morning.
« Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Motorists, especially in high-profile vehicles, may expect hazardous driving conditions on highways subject to strong crosswinds, » the warning reads.
