This enchanting small town in Ontario was named among Canada's most welcoming places

You can expect some kind smiles and friendly faces at this Ontario town. The destination boasts quaint streets and old-world charm, and was recently named among the most welcoming places in the country.

Online travel agency Booking.com recently announced the winners of its thirteenth annual Traveller Review Awards. Based on over 360 million verified customer reviews, the awards showcase travel partners who offer next-level hospitality and service.

The awards included Canada’s « Most Welcoming Places » determined by the number of accommodation providers in each destination that earned a 2025 Traveller Review Award — and two southern Ontario spots ranked among top 10.

Niagara-on-the-Lake came in at number five and with its fairy tale vibes and endless attractions, it’s a magical place to spend a day or longer.

The small town is surrounded by lush vineyards and is just a an hour and a half drive from Toronto.

The Victorian era downtown is lined with quaint local shops and boutiques. You’ll feel as though you’ve stepped back in time as you wander through the stores and check out the eateries.

There are so many wineries to explore, and many offer tastings, meals and other experiences that let you enjoy the region’s wine scene.

Other attractions include the Shaw Festival Theatre, 10 Below Icewine Lounge and the Fort George National Historic Site of Canada.

There are many delicious restaurants where you can enjoy some of the local cuisine, such as Tiara Restaurant and Treadwell Cuisine.

According to Booking.com’s Traveller Review Awards, the Prince of Wales Hotel and Riverbend Inn & Vineyard are the top spots to stay in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Toronto ranked as the « most welcoming » place in Canada, followed by Québec City and Halifax.
